YOGI

Lauren Etu, founder, has spent more than 20 years working in education as a school psychologist. She is a trauma-informed and resilience-focused clinician. Lauren began her yoga practice while in college to assist with stress. However, her practice deepened while living with infertility and the grief that went with that. She became a certified yoga instructor for children and adults when she saw the good yoga can do in a person's life - physically, mentally, and emotionally. Her classes focus on the nervous system and encourage building an awareness of cues our own bodies give us about what it needs. Her yoga students develop a stronger sense of self along with a feeling of peace and calm. Lauren teaches slow flow and yin yoga classes in Kenmore and Williamsville, NY at Be Embodied.

AUTHOR & SPEAKER

Lauren is a school psychologist for Buffalo Public Schools. She grew frustrated with traditional behavior plans, special education referrals, and counseling which rarely seemed to help students to the degree needed. Tired of bureaucracy and band-aids, Lauren took a deep dive into neuroscience and surfaced with new insights for her students and their teachers.

She has shared these tools with teachers not only in her own school but across the country via presentations and workshops. Lauren has taught students about their own nervous systems and ways to find regulation for themselves.

Passionate about her work and motivated to encourage others to implement these somatic tools in the classroom, Lauren put her knowledge and strategies into a book: Some Nerve! To learn more about her book and workshops, click here.
